Ohio Roman Catholic Diocese Schools Start New School Year Safer, Better Prepared for Crisis
NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio – Sept. 17, 2015 – Nearly 300 Ohio Roman Catholic Diocese schools started the 2015-16 school year safer and better prepared for crisis situations with the cloud-based NaviGate Prepared® emergency response safety system.
Schools within the Diocese of Cleveland, Diocese of Columbus, Diocese of Youngstown and Archdiocese of Cincinnati have implemented the technology, which securely organizes imperative school safety data and building information – and gives authorized users and local first responders around-the-clock, ‘eyes-on’ access to it from any Web-authorized device.
NaviGate Prepared was developed by Ohio-based Lauren InnovationsIt features emergency preparedness plans, call lists, personnel photos, building maps, color-coded floor plans, 360-degree photos of building areas, detailed views of room entrances and exits, and more.
“One of our greatest responsibilities as administrators in education is protecting the many students under our care,” said Eugene W. Boyer, Ed. S, Associate Superintendent for Secondary Schools and Newman Campus Ministry, The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. “Parents should fully expect that their children are as safe as humanly possible when they are in the school setting and I firmly believe that this unique, cloud-based system brings true value to our Diocese, giving both our administration and first responders the tools they need to be more prepared in any emergency situation while improving the safety of our schools.”
NaviGate Prepared can integrate floor plans and reunification procedures, tap into live security camera feeds andquickly locate key resources, such as shut-off valves, evacuation sites and individual classroom numbers. Additionally, administrators, teachers and staff have 24/7 access to school emergency flipcharts – with or without Internet – via a mobile application
In addition to heightening school safety, the technology assists schools in meeting the mandates of Ohio law and legislative rule for submitting annual emergency planning documentation.
Of the Ohio Roman Catholic Diocese schools, NaviGate Prepared was first implemented within the 53 schools of the Diocese of Columbus, followed by the 112 schools of the Diocese of Cleveland, the 26 schools of the Diocese of Youngstown and, most recently, 83 schools within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
“Lauren Innovations has proven itself as a responsive partner to the needs of Catholic schools in the state of Ohio,”said Kitty Quinn, assistant director of school leadership, The Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus. “Through the NaviGate Prepared system, they have listened and responded to help us implement one of our top educational priorities – the safety of our students and the ability to create a safe learning community. With their technological assistance we have updated our school maps to be interactive, our crisis plans to be responsive, and enhanced our relationship and communication with our local first responders.”
